Sliding Scale Rates: Learn More

Learn more about this sliding scale pricing model

Understanding the Supported Rate

If you're hesitating to choose the Supported rate even though it's the best fit for your current situation, I gently encourage you to use it. This rate exists for a reason, and that reason is you. Your healing matters to me and to our whole community.

I understand that choosing the Supported rate can feel uncomfortable. You might worry about being judged, feel like you should be able to afford more, or think that others need it more than you do. I want to reassure you: the Supported rate is here for you to use without hesitation or apology. Here's why:

You deserve care

Your financial situation doesn't determine your worth or your right to healing.

This is how it's designed to work

The sliding scale only functions when people use the rate that truly matches their situation. By choosing the Supported rate when you need it, you're actively participating in making care accessible for all.

No judgment here

I genuinely don't judge anyone's choice of rate. Your decision is private and respected.

Financial challenges don't define you

Financial struggles are often the result of systemic issues. I recognize this reality.

You're contributing to the community

By taking care of yourself, you're better able to show up for others in your life and community.

Circumstances change

Feel free to adjust your rate for future sessions as your situation changes.

A Note on the Pricing Model

I believe in transparent, community-oriented pricing. This sliding scale model isn't perfect, but it's an attempt to balance fair compensation with accessible care. It relies on trust, honesty, and our shared commitment to mutual support.

This pricing approach aims to make care accessible to those facing financial challenges while allowing those with more resources to support our community. It recognizes that our financial situations vary widely. Currently, the sliding scale rates are (+/-) 25% of the standard rate.

Choosing your rate may require some self-reflection about your finances, which I understand can be uncomfortable. While this model doesn't solve larger economic issues, it's an attempt to address financial barriers to care. It's not perfect, but it's a step towards creating a more supportive and inclusive healing environment for all of us.

This model works best when everyone participates thoughtfully. It's okay if it feels a bit awkward - we're challenging standard business practices together. Your choice of rate is personal and respected, no questions asked.

This pricing model draws inspiration from the work of healers and community organizers exploring equitable service pricing. Particular thanks to Kirby Teuila Gray for introducing me to the work of Alexis J. Cunningfolk of Worts + Cunning Apothecary which led me to Embracing Equity for their insights on sliding scales and economic justice.

This is a work in progress. I'm open to feedback and interested in refining this approach to serve our community better. Do you have experience with a sliding scale that inspires you? Let's share ideas.
